What are the best lottery selections? Picking some in a row or just randomizing?
Did you know that the majority of players purchasing a lottery ticket either choose quick picks or pick their own numbers so that they do not get any tickets with sequential numbers? It seems that lottery players are very suspicious of, or very superstitious about, having any ticket with sequential numbers even if it is only two out of six or seven.
Actually, most people consciously or unconsciously make it a point not to get any sequential numbers on their tickets buy only using selection slips and picking their own numbers to ensure they are scrambled and that none are sequential either one after the other, or in any type of pattern.
As an example, they will not select numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27. Neither will they pick something like 5. 9, 14, 31, 32, 46, as 31 and 32 are sequential. And 2, 4, 6, 11, 13, 15 is out of the question because each number is just adding 2 to the previous number. Any other type of pattern of numbers is off limits as well. So what is the reason for this type of number choosing other than suspicion or superstition?
Well, many people feel that getting a ticket with any pattern of sequential numbers is almost a guarantee that they are not going to win anything. They reference many draw statics that show that sequential numbers drawing are extremely low. Therefore, in their mind, having mixed lottery numbers gives them a better chance of hitting a win. This is similar to buying tickets for a door prize or other type of offering. You usually get sequential tickets as the seller is simply pulling the tickets off a big row of them, one after the other. People don’t like that and would prefer, buying two tickets, to get one from one roll and one from the other so the tickets have totally different numbers on them.
The fact is that on every single draw, or with every door prize ticket, every single lottery number or ticket stub has the exact same chance of being pulled or generated as every other lottery or ticket number. Being on opposite ends of the number board, or being sequential, has absolutely no bearing on the odds or possibilities or probabilities of those numbers being pulled or not. Yes, there could be draw in which 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 is pulled, just as the same exact possibility of 25, 30, 33, 37, 42, 49 being pulled. Sequential ticket numbers have no bearing on your increase or decrease of winning anything on the lottery. The only thing that does is the weird and wacky concept of luck
