Winning the lottery jackpot will ease your life and let you live very comfortably if you invest your money properly. However, winning millions of dollars also gives you the opportunity to give back to the community that has supported you with groceries, housing, food, snacks, water, electricity, haircuts, beauty work, medical services, and the myriad other products and services that are in your neighbourhood. This is not just throwing money at charities or organizations saying, “See? I support you!” It involves actually using your wealth and your involvement to do better for people just as the lottery win has done better for you.
Charitable Donations
One of the things you can do is to buy one or two thousand dollars worth of basic food (canned pasta or beans, boxes of pasta or cereal, cans of soup, etc.) and take it and donate it to your local food bank. You can also make a donation instead and let the food bank get the food that it really needs for its clients. Many people in your community are hungry and need to use food banks to eat on a daily basis.
Volunteering Time
Another way of giving back is to volunteer at the soup kitchen, a place not only for peoeple who use food banks, but also for those who are homeless and don’t get any food otherwise. You can not only buy ingredients for the kitchen to make meals, but you can volunteer some time into helping to prepare and cook the food, serve the food to those who visit, or help staff with a variety of chores, such as washing dishes and or assisting clients to get their meals
Find out who might be poor families in the community and working with social service agencies, to buy them clothes, food, pay their rent for a month or two, or help them out in other ways. And this means to do it any time of the year, not just at Christmas.
In helping other people in the community is not going to cost you much. You can an immense of good for a maximum of ten thousand dollars. This is not much from your lottery win and is excellent use of some spendable funds.
Remember to keep it all quiet! The people who provide the best benefits to the community are those who never talk about, boast about, or use it for personal gain or recognition. Most celebrities do this. They have community involvement in bettering people’s lives without seeking any publicity about it. For example, Johnny Depp visits sick kids in hospitals dressed in his Captain Jack Sparrow costume to cheer up kids who otherwise lay in hospital beds day in and day out, sad and bored. Canadian actor William Shatner has, among his many American and Canadian charity work, a deep involvement in equine therapy work. Evan Canadian bad boy and sometimes purported diva Justine Bieber volunteers his time with sick children and has built a school in Guatemala. Celebrities expect no compensation for their charity work, do it out of the kindness of their hearts, and never boast or use their charity work as a leverage for other perks or favours.
Winning the lottery can change your life for the better. You can use your good fortune to change the lives of people who are unfortunate in life, or donate money and time to provide a final wish.
